Two State Titles for M. Track

If President Greene is as committed to the growth and continued success of Colby athletics as he purports to be—and there have certainly been plenty of changes in recent months to suggest that he is—he would do well to look at the meteoric rise of the men’s runners at the school as inspiration. Over the last few years, the men’s cross country team and running competitors for track and field have been improving at a blistering rate. They’re clearly doing something right, and their fellow on-campus teams might do well to take note.

Two more top runners for Men’s Indoor Track and Field added to the Mules’ recent list of accolades. David Chelimo ’17 and Jeff Hale ’15 won state titles at last weekend’s Maine Championships at Bates. Chelimo squeezed out a win the 1,000-meter race while Hale cruised to a more comfortable victory in the 3,000-meter. Charlie Coffman ’15 and Brian Sommers ’17 were runners-up in the 5,000-meter and 600-meter competitions respectively.
